Driving with your caravan always gives you that feeling of freedom, whether you’re on a long holiday or just going away for the weekend. But what happens if you cause or sustain damage along the way? Is that covered by your car insurance or do you need caravan insurance?
Damage to someone else and to your caravan
Did you cause damage to someone else’s vehicle with your caravan? If the caravan was attached to your car when the damage occurred, that is covered by your car insurance.
Would you also like to be reimbursed for the cost of damage to your caravan in the event of an accident, theft or fire? Then you will need separate caravan insurance.
Does your caravan need its own license plate?
Important note: Is your caravan heavier than 750 kg? Then it will need its own licence plate and green card. You can apply for this through your intermediary or through the insurer who provided your car insurance.
